Persona Teases Seven Announcements To Celebrate 25th Anniversary
/Atlus has revealed some plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Persona series with seven announcements over the course of the coming year.
The company announced a new website dedicated solely to the celebrations and the upcoming announcements where they thanked fans for their support in pushing the series to sell more than 15 million copies. The website continued on to promise that there will be seven announcements that will include “25th commemorative goods, various events, collaborations, and of course game information.” The celebrations will kick off in September and will run until Autumn 2022.
That's pretty much all the details they revealed on it but let's speculate a little on what they could possibly show.
I think it's highly likely we'll see Persona 5 Royal or Persona 4: Golden come to other platforms either this year or early next year. At least I could see P5R coming to PC with a possibility of it also hitting Xbox consoles or Nintendo Switch, look I've played Persona 5 three times so I'll probably play it again if it came to Xbox. Lastly, I could see them teasing a Persona 6 with a short trailer similar to how they originally teased Persona 5, so a non-discript trailer basically tells us nothing. Hopefully, they'll finally have some big game news to share with Persona and not just look here buy some merchandise.
Cyberpunk 2077 returns to the PlayStation Store
/CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has finally returned to the PlayStation Store after a newly launched patch.
In the announcement tweet, the studio confirmed that the game is playable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and that a free next-gen upgrade is still coming towards the second half of 2021. However, they also warned players that they “may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms.”
Both the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter page and PlayStation's Twitter account have encouraged players to play on either a PlayStation 4 Pro or PlayStation 5 console to get the best possible experience.
I personally played the game at launch on the Xbox Series X and I did have an okay time with the game but I also ran into a ton of bugs throughout. I can comment on the state of the game today but some of the standout issues I had with the game was missing out on important story points due to a cut scene bug. Overall I still went to get the full 100% of the achievements but I can't see myself returning until a substantial DLC is launched.
Sony Has 25 New PlayStation 5 Games In Development
/PlayStation has confirmed there are currently 25 first-party games in development for the PlayStation 5 and more than half of them are possibly brand new IP.
PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst was talking to Wired for a feature about the PS5's first six months: "There’s an incredible amount of variety originating from different regions," which, he claims, include "big, small, different genres."
The games we know that are coming to PlayStation 5 are Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, God of War: Ragnarok, and Horizon: Forbidden West. PlayStation also has two partnerships with other studios that include Haven Studio which is Jade Raymond's new studio and a multiplayer project from Firewalk, a studio founded by Bungie developers.
Later on in the feature, PlayStation's CEO Jim Ryan went on to try and play down previous reports of PlayStation 5 stock issues for the foreseeable future, saying "We’re working as hard as we can to ameliorate that situation. We see production ramping up over the summer and certainly into the second half of the year, and we would hope to see some sort of return to normality in terms of the balance between supply and demand during that period."
The interesting note is if this generation lasts along long as the previous generation, 25 games only works out to be 3 games a year. The fact that almost half are new IP which would mean they would need more development time than say a squeal is somewhat telling that these games are for the entire generation. If that is so, it's kinda lackluster with Microsoft owning 23 studios with each studio working on multiple projects. That is all speculation though, Hopefully, the 25 games are not including already known titles and we'll see a ton of cool games coming to PS5 in the future.

/Sony has revealed the upcoming free games for PlayStation Plus in May 2021.

All three of the games will be available to download on the 4th of May, after the past few months of amazing games coming to the service. It seems PlayStation is taking their foot off the gas a little but hopefully, they'll field some deep picks for June 2o21. (I'm not sorry for all the bad puns)
Resident Evil Re:Verse Won't Be Available At Launch of Resident Evil Village
/Capcom has confirmed that the multiplayer mode for Resident Evil: Village called Resident Evil Re:Verse won't be coming to the game until later in the summer.
No launch window for the mode was confirmed so players assumed it would be launching alongside the game in May similar to Resident Evil 3 remake multiplayer mode called Resident Evil: Resistance.
However, it currently states on the official website that Resident Evil Re:Verse is scheduled for launch in "Summer 2021" although those who purchase Resident Evil: Village will still get the game for free when it eventually goes live.

Embracer Group acquires Gearbox Software
/Embracer Group which was formerly known as THQ Nordic has announced that they've acquired Borderlands creator Gearbox in a deal said to be worth a potential $1.3 billion USD.
In a press release, Embracer said that Gearbox will become a seventh operating group as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. CEO Randy Pitchford will continue to lead the studio and the 550 employees will all become joint "significant" shareholders in Embracer. The $1.3 USD billion-dollar value of the deal is dependent on performance with $363 million of the value paid upfront and the owners getting just over a billion should the company hit an agreed on six-year performance targets.
Pitchford said in a statement on the acquisition: "The feeling at Gearbox is that we are just getting started and this transaction is not merely a stimulant for the talent of our employee-owned company, but a propellent for the exciting future we have planned."
Ubisoft Massive & Lucasfilm Games Announce A New Star Wars Game
/Ubisoft Massive & Lucasfilm Games have revealed a brand new open-world Star Wars game, can we just take a second and rejoice that it's not another EA Star Wars game.
As revealed by Wired, the game will see Julian Gerighty (director of The Division 2 and The Crew) as creative director, however, they also confirmed that it's still in the early days of development with Massive still hiring staff for the project.
Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot gave a statement on the partnership, saying "The Star Wars galaxy is an amazing source of motivation for our teams to innovate and push the boundaries of our medium. Building new worlds, characters, and stories that will become lasting parts of the Star Wars lore is an incredible opportunity for us, and we are excited to have our Ubisoft Massive studio working closely with Lucasfilm Games to create an original Star Wars adventure that is different from anything that has been done before."
The title will be the first mainline Star Wars game outside of VR or a LEGO game that isn't developed by EA's Star Wars division. EA was originally in an exclusive agreement to make Star Wars games for ten years, however, they've just crossed the eight-year mark.
No details have been given as to the status of that agreement, although EA is still apparently free to continue to create Star Wars games going forward, and Lucasfilm Games intend to work with other partners as well in the future.
Senior Vice President of Global Games and Interactive Experiences at Disney Sean Shoptaw told Wired: "EA has been and will continue to be a very strategic and important partner for us now and going forward, but we did feel like there's room for others.

/IO Interactive has revealed a full list of all the upcoming locations for Agent 47 next adventure in Hitman 3.
The developer's announced via a blog post on the official website that the three previously revealed locations of the Chinese city of Chongqing, Dubai, UAE, and Thornbridge Manor in Dartmoor, England would be joined by three other locations.
the three new maps consist of the outskirts of Berlin, Germany, a vineyard based in Mendoza, Argentina, and the final mission which will be the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. That's pretty much all the details as they wanted to keep it as spoiler-free as possible but they do have screenshots of all available areas located on their website.
Hitman 3 will be releasing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC from January 20
a New Arkane Game With Dishonored and Prey Developers In The Works
/In an interview with Vandal, Dishonored co-creator Harvey Smith confirmed he's working on a new unannounced game at Arkane Austin. He explained that he had recently moved back to Austin Texas after finishing up development on Dishonored 2 at Arkane's Lyon studio, who's currently working on Deathloop for PS5.
Harvey Smith said the following "I'm not on Deathloop, I'm on something else, working with the guys who made Dishonored and Prey."
Vandal later asked Smith if the soon to be Microsoft acquisition had altered anything at Arkane, to which he replied with that there's been no difference at the moment. He added that, of all possible partners for Bethesda, he'd find it difficult to think of a better one than Microsoft, ending the interview with "They fit perfectly."
While we wait to find out more on this mysterious game, you'll be able to play another Arkane game on May 21 for PS5 and PC called Deathloop.
Hitman 3 New Feature Revealed
/IO Interactive has revealed an upcoming feature for Hitman 3. Players will be able to unlock "persistent shortcuts" in levels, which will open up new paths on previously played levels.
Originally revealed by Game Informer, the new shortcuts are said to "encourage exploration, reward curiosity, and incentivize replayability" with players being able to open up new routes by interacting with doors, certain areas, and access points in each level. Agent 47 will then be able to use them during future playthroughs to get to areas of the map faster or to head off a target before they reach a specific destination.
I'm personally looking forward to checking this out for myself when Hitman 3 launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on January 20, 2021.
Nintendo Buying Developer Next Level Games
/Nintendo has confirmed today that it will be acquiring Canadian developer Next Level Games, the studio behind Luigi's Mansion 3.
Nintendo is hoping the deal will be sealed by March 1, 2021, pending shareholder approval. Nintendo stated that the deal would "secure the availability of Next Level Games development resources for Nintendo, including development expertise, as well as facilitate an anticipated improvement in development speed and quality by enabling closer communication and exchange of staff with the Nintendo development team."
I'm pretty excited to see what Nintendo has up its sleeves for the developer and hopefully, this means that more Luigi-based adventures in a mansion are on it's way.
Xbox Games With Gold For January 2021
/Microsoft has announced the next batch of games coming to games with gold for January 2021 and they're okay, not great though.
the following games are available to grab now if you're a member of Xbox Live:
Little Nightmares (A weird but cool indie game): Available January 1 to 31
Dead Rising (Go Play Dead Rising 4, it's great and super festive): Available January 16 to February 15
The King of Fighters XIII (I'm probably terrible at it): Available January 1 to 15
Breakdown (Had enough of those in 2020): Available January 16 to 31
Games With Gold has been super lackluster since Xbox Game Pass was revealed, Go Get Game Pass Ultimate and treat these additional games as a bonus. Also While we're here, go play Yakuza Zero on the game pass, it's probably the best game on there.
